False alarms represent one of the biggest problems in smoke detection systems, since most of the systems can detect smoke but it is hard to distinguish it from visually similar phenomena. False alarms can greatly reduce the usability of the system so methods for their reduction are used in most smoke detection systems. Example of methods for false alarms reduction is given bellow:
